During the summer, Spells hosts a free 6-week writing camp: five sessions for ages 7–12 and one session for ages 12–16. In 2016, camp will run Mondays–Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from July 5 through August 12.
Each week-long program focuses on a different writing theme, such as adventure stories, songwriting, mysteries, or animation. But our campers don’t just sit around writing all the time—we find inspiration for our stories through interactive games, group brainstorming sessions, and outdoor play.
This summer, our camp will be held in our new location, on N. 2nd Street near Girard Ave. This larger space will allow us the flexibility to accommodate more students for each session, while still being within a short walk of parks and playgrounds for outdoor recreation. That should make the registration process a bit easier for families while still keeping the class size manageable so each student receives the one-on-one mentoring we’re known for!
Students may sign up for one or more weeks. Registration is free, but requires a refundable deposit of $25 per student.
To register multiple children for our camp, simply fill out one order form and “purchase” as many spots and deposits as you need. Please be sure to indicate the names and ages of each child you are registering in the appropriate box, and which camp weeks each one will be attending.
Your registration is only valid if you pay the refundable deposit, either electronically at the top of the registration form or via mail or hand-delivery to our offices at 1415 N. 2nd Street, Suite 22B. Registrations may be adjusted/canceled if we do not receive your deposit in a timely manner or your child is not within the age range of the requested camp week.
