Zombie Mash-Up Contest
Do you have a favorite story that begs for some zombie action, like Seth Grahame-Smith did in Pride and Prejudice, which he felt just called for an “ultraviolent bone-crushing zombie massacre?” In anticipation of Spells’ upcoming Zombie Talent Show, we thought it would be fun to have budding writers out there create some zombie adaptations of their own and submit them to our Zombie Mash-up Contest. (Teachers, this could be a great activity for these last days of school.)
How it works:
- Send us your stories (or scenes), poems, or comics rewritten with zombies. Paste your finished piece in the comment section below or email them to me.
- On June 2nd, Spells judges will pick a winner from two categories: high school and elementary/middle school.
- We will announce the winners at The Zombie Talent Show. However, because the winners will be underage, they’ll see the announcement on June 3rd!
Eligibility
The subject matter might be a little bit gory, but we think every age has a zombie story to tell -- Goodnight Zombie anyone? — and welcome submissions from anyone not yet 18.
Prizes
Winners will receive an age appropriate prize (a signed copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for high school; and of a copy of Beastly Rhymes, signed by illustrator Brian Biggs, for younger ages).

Get writing!
