Free Comic Book Day

Hi everyone. I want to make this post quick and tell you how  super excited I am for Saturday, which is Free Comic Book Day. There’s something that’s always fascinated me about comics, something whimsical and wonderful about the storytelling in them. I grew up on comics, especially Calvin and Hobbes and Jeff Smith’s Bone, or reading Archie on line at the grocery store. They’re something that have made me a voracious reader and something that could get kids into the same habit.

Free Comic Book Day is very heavy on superhero comics, which are great but not my style. But I’m really looking forward to reading Johnny Boo, from one of my favorite comickers, James Kochalka, along with Andy Runton’s Owly and Kean Soo’s Jellaby. These are great comics for kids, and for adults too.

Some other cool comics are John Stanley’s Nancy and Melvin Monster and Matt Groening’s Bongo Comics.
